At Music Dialogue, we want to help young musicians become excellent performers who can understand the essence of ensembles by learning true music creation together with experienced performers through chamber music. While performing with Heiichiro Oyama (Music Dialogue Artistic Director), who has served as music director and principal player at various orchestras and music festivals around the world as a conductor and violist, and Fumie Kato (Music Dialogue Artist), a cellist who is active as a soloist and chamber musician, you will learn how to deeply read the score and reflect it in your performance in order to reproduce the thoughts and intentions that the composer put into the work. You can also experience the process of music creation in more depth by taking an online course in advance to think about the composer and the work.

[Course Content]
-Students will form a chamber music group with Heiichiro Oyama and Fumie Kato for rehearsals/coaching.
・Days 1-3: Rehearsals 1-XNUMX hours per day (partially open to the public)
Day 4: Dress rehearsal, performance (open to the public)
The pieces to be studied will be decided by the school principal after examining students' career history, performance experience, desired pieces, etc.
*As a rule, the orchestra consists of 3 to 6 people, including piano, violin, viola, and cello.
* Taking into consideration the lineup and other circumstances, a song other than the one you requested may be chosen.
・About 2 hours during January and FebruaryOnline lectureStudents will take courses (such as music history and song analysis) that will help them prepare for the pieces they will perform.

[Lecturer's background]
Heichiro Oyama (Viola/Principal/Artistic Director of Music Dialogue)
After graduating from Toho Gakuen School of Music, he graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in the UK. He then trained at Indiana University in the US. After participating in the Marlboro Music Festival as a violist in 1972, he was invited to many international music festivals, performing with such famous musicians as Gidon Kremer, Radu Lupu, and Isaac Stern. In 1979, he was appointed principal viola of the LA Philharmonic led by Carlo Maria Giulini, and in 1987, he was appointed assistant conductor to Andre Previn. Since then, he has conducted in various parts of Europe and the US as a guest conductor. He has also conducted many orchestras in Japan. He has served as artistic director of the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival and the La Jolla Summerfest in the US. He was the principal conductor of the Kyushu Symphony Orchestra for five years from 1999, and the principal conductor of the Osaka Symphony Orchestra for three and a half years from 5. In 2004, he retired from his 3-year professorship at the University of California. He was the music director of the Nagasaki Music Festival for three years from 2003. In 30, he retired from his 2007-year tenure as music director of the Santa Barbara Chamber Orchestra. In 3, he received the Fukuoka City Cultural Award, in 2017 the Agency for Cultural Affairs' Art Festival Excellence Award, and in 35 the Santa Barbara City Cultural Achievement Award. Fumie Kato(Cello/Music Dialogue Artist)
Born in Kyoto City. In 2006, he studied abroad at the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris as a scholarship student. In 2010, he graduated from the Tokyo University of the Arts, Faculty of Music, Department of Instrumental Music, Majoring in Cello. He received the Ataka Prize, Acanthus Prize, and Mitsubishi Jisho Prize while at the university. In 2010 and 2011, he was a member of the first class of the Suntory Hall Chamber Music Academy. In 1, he completed the master's course at the Tokyo University of the Arts Graduate School and received the Acanthus Prize. He unanimously graduated from the Conservatoire de Paris with top honors. He won first place in the 2014th Viva Hall Cello Competition, second place in the string section of the 8th and 1th Tokyo Music Competition, and third place in the FLAME International Competition. He was a recipient of the Kyoto City Special Encouragement Award for Art and Culture in 7. He has studied under the late Minoru Sugiyama, Donald Richer, Alain Meunier, Fumiaki Kono, and Raphaël Pidoux. He also studied chamber music under Kiyoshi Okayama, Katsuya Matsubara, P. Lecord, E. Lesage, and P. Meillet. He is a registered artist with the Foundation for Regional Creation's Public Hall Music Revitalization Project. He is a Music Dialogue artist.
II. How to apply

In principle, applicants must be under 35 years of age and are studying music professionally aspiring to become performers, or are already active as performers, and wish to further improve their performance technique and ability to interpret chamber music.
